Heart breaking interview, Kangana Ranaut speaks about being unwanted girl child
Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli were sight to sore hearts on the cover of Femina magazine. In the interview Rangoli talks about the acid attack and the survival. She had a lot to talk about how they were support to each other during their ups and downs. During the launch of the magazine Kangana mentioned that she was unwanted child because of her gender.
Here are the excerpts, “My parents had a child before Rangoli, who died within 10 days of his birth. He was called hero. My parents couldn’t emerge from the loss of that baby boy. But then Rangoli happened and she was taken care of, there was a huge celebration. But when I was born, my parents my mother especially, couldn’t come to terms with that fact that they had another baby girl. I know these stories in detail because every time a guest visited, there was a gathering, they repeated this story in front of me that how I was unwanted child”. Who had ever imagined that this unwanted girl child will be the national award winner. The girl who protected her sister and her dignity when Rangoli was going through the tough times (acid attack recovery). Most of her character plots in her movies were the one which broke the stereotypes. Even after being criticised for bad English language skills, she learned and nailed it. The woman with such varying performances and that too award winning had such excerpts was a heart breaking news to hear.
She also stated that “it’s very hard to live in an environment where you’re reminded, constantly told that your existence just happens to be her that you are not meant to be here. From my side, there was no acceptance to this fact that I am any less than anyone around me. So there was a certain discomfort that I felt growing up that I am not seen as I want to be seen as.” Her journey was never easy in the industry. During the launch she mentioned that depicting the Indian women as the selfless human who care about the men in their life should be stopped. Even in era of modernity that too with such famous feminine personality, she had to suffer that situation which a percentage of girls are still going through.
Not just on this event but in every context that she has been performing the best and has always emerged as a star all the time. Whether selecting manuscript or in an interview or protecting her sister or any performance that she has to perform, she always have rocked her performances. It’s one of the facts that people of film industry are the most exposed people to the general crowd. It is inspiring to have such women in this industry and talk openly about such issues. It takes a lot of courage to talk every issue at such position and this woman did it. Keep slaying queen.
